Dr. Burnham Riosa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Disability Studies at Brock University. She is a Doctoral-level Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and has been working in the disability field with children, youth, and adults with autism and their families for over 18 years.
Broadly, Dr. Burnham Riosa applies qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research approaches to improve the well-being of people with disabilities and their families over the lifespan and across various applied contexts. Some of her specific research interests include examining the effectiveness of behavioural and cognitive-behavioural interventions for people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families, exploring therapeutic factors that influence treatment success, evaluating the service and support needs of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, and understanding the lived experiences of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.
