Qi Wan

Graduate RA

Qi is a master’s student in the Department of Applied Disability Studies (Leadership, Diversity, Community, and Culture specialization; MADS LDCC) at Brock University. She joined Dr. Burnham Riosa’s lab as a research assistant in 2020. Her interests in disability studies are broad and include examining the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and programs that promote family mental health and well-being.

Qi has been involved in two main research projects: The first project is focused on evaluating Transitioning Together, a group intervention to improve parent-child outcomes for autistic youth transitioning to adulthood. The second project, Ready2Work, is focused on developing and evaluating an online employment platform for autistic job-seekers. In addition, she successfully presented a poster at the Canadian Health and Wellbeing in Developmental Disabilities Conference 2022 hosted by the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

Qi also works as an instructor therapist at AlphaBee, providing 1:1 support for her clients. She is excited and honoured to be involved in this lab and work with such a great team.
