Serena D'Angelo

MA Student (LDCC)

Serena completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Brock University. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies, specializing in Leadership, Diversity, Community, and Culture (LDCC). Her living experience as a disabled service dog handler informed her master's thesis topic, a mixed-methods study investigating the challenges and barriers that Canadian service dog handlers face when accessing public spaces in Canada. This work incorporates a community-based participatory research approach to ensure that service dog handlers are directly involved in the research and that the knowledge generated through the study is returned to those most impacted.
